Waypoint Outfitters is a family-owned outdoor shop in the heart of Boone, North Carolina. Surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains, we’re fortunate to call one of the best outdoor playgrounds in the Southeast home.

What started as a longtime dream has grown into a place where locals and visitors can find quality gear, trusted advice, and a team that genuinely enjoys helping people get outside.

Whether you're planning a weekend backpacking trip, finding the right pair of hiking shoes, gearing up for a day on the river, or simply looking for something comfortable to wear around town, our goal is simple: help you find the right gear for your next adventure.

We’re selective about what makes it onto our shelves. We carry outdoor apparel, footwear, packs, camping equipment, fly-fishing gear, and accessories from brands we trust and would use ourselves.

But Waypoint is more than a place to buy gear. Our team spends time hiking, fishing, camping, paddling, climbing, and exploring the same mountains our customers do. That firsthand experience helps us give practical advice instead of simply pointing you toward a product.
